“… Kuhar's composition can be easily compared to the works of great masters…”
(Iserlohner Kreisanzeiger)
The international prizes, glowing reviews (Classical Guitar Magazine, Delo newspaper…) and the very response of the audience at home and abroad all point to an artist in the round, successfully negotiating the joined path of composition and interpretation.
Nejc Kuhar started to study guitar in Ljubljana (Slovenia), he is finishing his Masters degree in guitar at Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts with prof. Alvaro Pierri and he finished his Masters degree in composition with Dr. Reiner Bishof and prof. Christian Minkowitsch at Konservatorium Wien, Privatuniversität.
Nejc’s compositions are published by the renowned publishing houses, such as Berben (Italy) and Les Production d'Oz (Canada). Recently the Publishing and Record Label of the RTV Slovenia has released Nejc Kuhar CD "String modulations" with his music for guitar played by Mak Grgić with some of the finest Slovenian musicians of the young generation. Since 2008 he is a scholarship holder of Slovenian Culture Ministry and since 2011 of Gallus Foundation.

His composition Six Miniatures, for each season one has won him 1st prizes at two international competitions. In 2009, his ensemble piece was awarded 3rd prize at the prestigious Gustav Mahler Competition in Austria. In 2010 the composition Svašta for double bass solo got the 1st Prize at the Recital Music Composition Competition in England and was also awarded an 'Honorable Mention' in the 2010 ISB Composition Contest in USA. His piece Concerto for Timpani and Percussion Ensemble was awarded 3rd Prize in Moscow (from almost 200 compositions) and 2nd Prize on Fidelio Competition in Vienna; in May 2011 the same piece was preformed in Vienna Musikverein and will be repeated in 2013 in Konzerthaus.
